To convert between units of length, use a conversion factor. Simply multiply your starting value by the appropriate factor to get the result:

Result = Starting Value × Conversion Factor

For example, to convert 50 centimeters to meters:
50 cm × 0.01 = 0.5 m

To convert in the opposite direction (e.g., meters to centimeters), divide by the same factor or multiply by its reciprocal:
0.5 m ÷ 0.01 = 50 cm

For conversions between any two units, first convert to meters, then to the target unit. Alternatively, divide the conversion factor of the starting unit by that of the target unit for a direct conversion.
